The Dean, H.E. Abukar Abdi Osman AhnaSpeaking on behalf of the African Heads of Mission accredited to Malaysia, calledupon Malaysia to build strong will of partnership and collaboration with Africato explore economic opportunities for mutual benefits. He cited trade,investment, tourism, education, infrastructure, oil and gas and otherinfrastructural projects as well as vast natural resources that can be exploredfor business. He also noted that other synergies of belonging to some organisationssuch as Commonwealth, Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and Non-AlignedMovement are added advantages to further grow the existing cooperation. Heconcluded noting that Malaysian businessmen can benefit from the AfricanContinental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Agreement connecting 1.3b people withcombined GDP valued at US3.4 Trillion.
During the event, the Chief Guest HonourableYB Dato' Sri Mustapa Mohammed, Minister of Economic Affairs, Office of thePrime Minister of Malaysia congratulated the African Heads of Mission on the occasionand made a toast to commemorate the Africa Day 2022. The Honourable Ministerlater toured stalls exhibiting different products and tourism displays as wellas the food cuisines and beverages of each country represented in Malaysia.
The highly organised and colourful eventwas celebrated in style by showcasing videos displaying Economic activities andAgricultural value addition, tourism endowments, vast natural resources, richculture, African cuisines, art & crafts, and several African music anddances.
