Hon. Sam Kutesa handing Office to Hon. Gen. Al-Haji Abubaker Odongo Jeje.

Hon. Sam KUTESA, the outgoing Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uganda on Tuesday 22nd June 2021 officially handed over office to Hon. Gen. Al-Haji Abubaker ODONGO JEJE the incoming Minister. The handover ceremony took place at the Ministry Headquarters and was attended by the Permanent Secretary Amb. Patrick Mugoya and other senior officials of the Ministry.

Hon. Kutesa, welcomed Hon. Odongo to the Ministry and congratulated him upon his appointment as the Minister of Foreign Affairs. He commended the new Minister for the excellent working relationship in the previous portfolios he held as Minister.

Hon. Kutesa appreciated H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, President of the Republic of Uganda for giving him the opportunity to serve the country as Minister of Foreign Affairs since 2005.

The Minister further remarked that he is leaving Hon. Odongo in good and capable hands of the Ministry staff whom he credited for the unwavering support that led to the Ministry's achievements registered in the last 16 years.

Hon. Odongo thanked H.E the President as well for his appointment and conveyed a message of gratitude to the outgoing Minister, for the warm reception that was accorded to him, further stating that he intends to benefit from his wise counsel as he assumes this position of the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

On behalf of the staff, Amb. Mugoya re-affirmed the commitment of the Ministry's technical staff to give the incoming Minister the necessary support to enable him carry out his duties.
