UGANDA, THE PEARL OF AFRICA

Uganda enjoys a unique location along the equator, in the East African region. It is home to the source of the Nile, the longest (6,650km) river in Africa. Its landscape spans from lush rainforests to the snow-capped Rwenzori Mountains and Lake Victoria, the world's second largest fresh water lake. Its flora and fauna is endowed with the greatest diversity of animal and plant species, and it is well known for its primates including gorillas and chimpanzees. Uganda's altitude ranges from 620m above sea level (at Albert Nile) to 5,109m (at Mt. Rwenzori).

Hon. Sam KUTESA, the outgoing Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uganda on Tuesday 22nd June 2021 officially handed over office to Hon. Gen. Al-Haji Abubaker ODONGO JEJE the incoming Minister. The handover ceremony took place at the Ministry Headquarters and was attended by the Permanent Secretary Amb. Patrick Mugoya and other senior officials of the Ministry.

RE-OPENING OF ENTEBBE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT ON 1ST OCTOBER 2020

The High Commission of the Republic of Uganda wishes to inform that Entebbe International Airport was re-opened to passenger planes effective 1st October 2020 to allow entry of Ugandan Nationals previously stranded abroad due to Covid-19. Foreign tourists and regular business travelers are now allowed to make their travels to Uganda.

EVACUATION OF STRANDED UGANDANS DUE TO COVID-19

Greetings Fellow Ugandans in Malaysia, Thailand,  Indonesia, Philippines, Brunei Darusalam, Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar and Laos PDR.

This is to inform you that in accordance to the guidance from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Kampala,  the evacuation exercise of stranded Ugandans who are willing to cover the cost of travel and mandatory quarantine at a private or accept use of a public facility, will commence following the fulfilment of listed SOPs.

For those stranded Ugandans who are eligible, please fill the attached declaration form on our official Facebook page and email to malaysia@mofa.go.ug 

Also arrange to carry out the COVID-19 test as soon as possible.

Uganda High Commission in Kuala Lumpur will from time to time continue to provide necessary guidance on this subject.

Uganda High Commissioner Dorothy Hyuha hosted the Africa Heads of Missions resident in Malaysia

On 27 Nov 2019,Uganda High Commissioner Dorothy Hyuha hosted the Africa Heads of Missions resident in Malaysia for a monthly meeting.This is done on rotational basis by Missions to meet as African Diplomatic group and share business of common interest to Africa.
There are 21 African Missions accredited to the Republic of Malaysia,based in Kuala Lumpur .
The current Dean of the Africa Diplomatic group is H.E Walubita Imakando High Commissioner of Republic of Zambia.

Flag of the Republic of Malaysia being raised by Alhaj Kagimu Honorary Consul of Malaysia in Uganda assisted by Loh Seck Tiong High Commissioner of Malaysia to Kenya/Uganda, and the flag of the Republic of Uganda being raised by Hon. Amelia Kyambadde Minister of Trade, Industry, and Cooperatives during the official opening ceremony of the Honorary Consulate of Malaysia in Uganda at Kololo, Kampala on 24 Sept 2019. Over 20 delegates including Ministers and Members of Parliament from Malaysia graced the occasion.

TOURISM PROMOTION

Sunday, 23rd September 2018

In a bid to promote Tourism and people to people co-operation, the High Commissioner Dorothy Samali Hyuha flagged off Mr. Ravichandran Tharumalingam to carry Uganda's Flag to Mt. Kinabalu during the ASEAN mountain Climbing Expedition from 23rd -26th September 2018.

Mr. Ravichandran is the First Malaysian to have climbed the Highest Mountain in Uganda Mt. Rwenzori and reached the highest Margherita peak at 5109 m above sea level.

Uganda High Commission Kuala Lumpur is currently engaging with the Tour and Travel Companies in both Uganda and Malaysia to promote Tourism, Trade, Investment, and Cultural Exchanges. The ASEAN climbers and other tourists are planning for Mt. Rwenzori 2nd Expedition in January 2019.
