H.E DR. BETTY O. BIGOMBE MEETS WITH THE PRESIDENT OF THE INDONESIAN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY TO STRENGTHEN ECONOMIC COOPERATION BETWEEN UGANDA AND INDONESIA
On 02 September 2024, H.E Dr. Betty Oyella Bigombe, the Ambassador of Uganda to Indonesia with residence in Kuala Lumpur, held a productive meeting with Mr. Arsjad Rasjid P.M., the President of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN). The meeting occurred at the KADIN headquarters in Jakarta, focusing on fostering stronger trade and investment ties between Uganda and Indonesia.
During the discussions, H.E Dr. Bigombe highlighted Uganda's immense trade and investment opportunities, particularly in key sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, tourism, and technology. She emphasized Uganda’s strategic location in East Africa and its potential as a gateway to the wider African market.
Mr. Arsjad Rasjid P.M. expressed the interest of Indonesian businesses in exploring opportunities in Uganda and underscored the importance of promoting mutual trade relations that would benefit both nations. He also noted that Uganda's growing economy and conducive investment environment present a unique opportunity for Indonesian enterprises seeking to expand into Africa.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to strengthen economic cooperation through joint initiatives, business forums, and future trade missions to increase bilateral trade volumes and investments. H.E Dr. Bigombe and Mr. Arsjad Rasjid P.M. reaffirmed their dedication to building a strong partnership that will contribute to the prosperity of both Uganda and Indonesia.
This meeting marks another significant step in Uganda’s efforts to enhance diplomatic and economic relations with Indonesia and the broader ASEAN region.
