STRENGTHENING UGANDA-MALAYSIA ECONOMIC TIES: MEETING BETWEEN H.E. DR. BETTY O. BOGOMBE AND TAN SRI DATO' LOW KIAN CHUAN.
On 20th August 2024, H.E. Dr. Betty O. Bigombe, the High Commissioner of Uganda to Malaysia accompanied by Mr. Kasujja Moses Kalule, Minister Counsellor, held a fruitful meeting with Tan Sri Dato' Low Kian Chuan, President of the Associated Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM). The meeting served as a crucial platform for advancing Uganda’s economic interests and exploring new avenues of cooperation between Uganda and Malaysia.
During the discussions, H.E. Dr. Bigombe emphasized Uganda’s rich investment potential in key sectors such as agriculture, oil & gas, renewable energy, infrastructure, and tourism. She further outlined the various incentives available to foreign investors, underlining Uganda’s commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment.
Tan Sri Dato' Low Kian Chuan expressed ACCCIM's interest in strengthening trade relations with Uganda, noting Malaysia’s eagerness to explore new opportunities within Uganda’s dynamic and rapidly growing economy. Both parties agreed to continue working together towards mutually beneficial partnerships that will spur trade and investment between the two countries.
The meeting also highlighted the upcoming Uganda-Malaysia Trade Mission, scheduled to take place between November 2024 and February 2025. This Trade Mission aims to bring together Ugandan and Malaysian business leaders and investors for strategic discussions on trade, joint ventures, and investments. It will serve as a key opportunity for Malaysian companies to explore Uganda’s thriving sectors and expand their global business footprint.
