Her Excellency Betty Bigombe presented her Letters of Credence accrediting her as High Commissioner of the Republic of Uganda to Malaysia to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong XVI, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta'in Billah on 01st December 2022.
The High Commission of the Republic of Uganda in Malaysia represented by Mr. Kasujja Moses Kalule, Minister Counsellor, and other Mission staff participated in the Africa Business Information Day event in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 06th February 2024 at Concorde Hotel Kuala Lumpur, under the theme “This time for Africa”. The event was jointly organized by the Malaysian Export Academy and the Malaysia Africa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, featuring speakers and representatives from various African countries and Malaysians doing business in Africa.
Her Excellency Ambassador Betty Oyella Bigombe attended as a Plenary Session Speaker at the International Business Review -Borneo awards ,hosted by the Premier of Sarawak on 03rd November 2023 in Kuching.
The session was on investment opportunities in Borneo with focus on the untapped potential and steps that can be taken to unlock a spectrum of opportunities for investors to contribute to both economic growth and sustainability.
The Minister of State for Agriculture Hon. Fred Bwino Kyakulaga accompanied by Rtd. Maj. Gen. David Leon Kasura Permanent Secretary of MAAIF, Ms. Susan Apiyo Lakwonyero, Project Manager National Oil Palm Project, Mr. Gafa David PA to Permanent Secretary, and Ms. Everlyn Kasangaki, Third Secretary at Uganda High Commission held a meeting with the management of Malaysia Palm Oil Board headed by Datuk Dr. Ahmed Parveez HJ. Ghulam Kadir on the 09th November 2023.
The Minister of State for Agriculture Hon. Fred Bwion Kyakulaga accompanied by Rtd Maj. Gen David Leon Kasura Permanent Secretary Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries and Uganda's High Commissioner H.E. Betty Oyella Bigombe held a meeting with the Management of Felda Global Ventures (FGV) Sdn Bhd on 08th November 2023 at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
The Mission participated in the Wisma Putra Day on 04th November 2023 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Putrajaya.
The event which aimed at promoting cultural diversity saw many visitors enjoy cultural dances, traditional cuisines, as well as beautiful national attires. Uganda served ‘’rolex’’ and ‘’kikomando’’ during the event.
The event was graced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia H.E. DATO’ SERI DIRAJA DR. ZAMBRY ABD KADIR. He was impressed by Uganda's cuisine during his tour at the Mission booth.
The Mission participated in the Malaysia Coffee Week from 26th to 29th October 2023 in order to promote Ugandan coffee to the retail industry players including; Coffee roasters, Coffee Baristas, coffee machinery suppliers, and café owners.
From the Uganda coffee booth, traders and consumers had a chance to taste both Uganda’s aromatic Arabica and fruity Robusta.
Ambassador Betty Oyella Bigombe paid a visit to SMH Rail SDN BHD on 31st October 2023, with the purpose of discussing possible collaboration in boosting the operationalization of Uganda Railways.
The global locomotive manufacturer welcomed the initiative and expressed the readiness to work with the Ugandan Government on implementing a railway project upon agreement on various terms.
