On 26th March 2025, Uganda’s Ambassador to Malaysia and accredited to Thailand, H.E. Dr. Betty Oyella Bigombe, held a high-level security meeting with Major General Yutthaphoon Nuanmak, Deputy Director of Border Affairs in Mae Sot District, Tak Province. The meeting was part of an urgent diplomatic and humanitarian mission to coordinate efforts for the rescue and safe repatriation of Ugandan nationals stranded in Myanmar.

On 25th March 2025, Her Excellency Dr. Betty Oyella Bigombe, Ambassador of the Republic of Uganda to the Kingdom of Thailand (resident in Kuala Lumpur), held a consultative meeting with His Excellency Ambassador Lindsay Kiptiness of the Republic of Kenya at the High Commission of Kenya in Bangkok, Thailand. The meeting took place as part of Ambassador Bigombe’s regional engagements aimed at facilitating the safe repatriation of Ugandan nationals who remain stranded in scam centers along the Thai-Myanmar border.

On 25th March 2025, Her Excellency Dr. Betty Oyella Bigombe, Ambassador of the Republic of Uganda to the Kingdom of Thailand (resident in Kuala Lumpur), held a high-level meeting with Lieutenant General Nattawut Sabyroop, Commanding General of the Armed Forces Security Center, at the Royal Thai Armed Forces Headquarters in Bangkok. The purpose of the meeting was to engage in a diplomatic discussion concerning the ongoing plight of Ugandan nationals stranded in Myanmar, particularly victims of transnational human trafficking and scam syndicates.

On 24th March 2025, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Betty Oyella Bigombe met with Ms. Wanalee Lohpetch, the Deputy Director General (DDG) of the Department of South Asia, Middle East, and Africa at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) of the Kingdom of Thailand. The meeting, held at the MoFA Headquarters in Bangkok, focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation between Uganda and Thailand, particularly in the areas of trade, tourism, and addressing human trafficking concerns involving Ugandan nationals.
